Join us for an engaging and interactive evening in which speakers and public together explore the theme of “sustainability from within”.
People increasingly recognize that we cannot make the transition to a more sustainable society by transforming exterior reality alone – through technology, policy, economic incentives, or legislative measures – , whatever important these are. Our global social and environmental issues are demanding deeper changes – changes in the very fundament of our being human; of how we understand and relate to the world, ourselves, and each other. The NatureCollege speaks about “sustainability from within” to refer to the profound changes needed in our worldviews, values, motivations, and perceptions, and has worked for over a decade to put this important issue on the national and international agenda.
The NatureCollege organizes training and retreats, organizes Roundtables with businesspeople, a programme on children and nature (‘Natuurwijs’), and the nine members of its board recently contributed to the book ‘Duurzaamheid van Binnenuit’ (‘Sustainability from within’, 2015), by Froukje Jansen en Annick de Witt, which was published by Prometheus Bert Bakker. For more information on the NatureCollege see www.natuurcollege.nl (in Dutch).
On this evening, three of the board members of the NatureCollege will share their ideas and experiences, and invite the public to participate in what promises to be a lively exploration of an important and timely issue. Also some footage will be shared of Princess Irene van Lippe-Biesterfeld at a TedEX event in Apeldoorn.
