Nature-Wise

Instigated by the NatureCollege Foundation in the Netherlands, the Nature-Wise project has been launched in collaboration with the State Forestry Department and the University of Utrecht. The project was conceptualised to take children out into the natural environment and thus instil a sense of awareness of the relationship between humans and nature. An interactive scholarly approach is the key focus of this project.
Research has revealed that many children no longer spend time in nature. Some of these children have completely lost their connection with nature and the environment as a whole.

Sadly today’s technological society dissuades the natural tendencies for children to explore nature’s multifaceted aspects of nature. Nature-wise strives to encourage children to re-connect with nature in a playful manner.
Children are, after all, the future ‘custodians’ of nature’. The project Nature-Wise wants to offer children the opportunity to experience the wonder of being one with nature. Its also aims to raise awareness of the environment through knowledge, experience and inspiration.
